Getting Started with LeagueApps Play: Coaches & Staff

LeagueApps Play is the free app your organization uses to run team schedules, attendance, and communication. This guide gets you signed in and covers the things coaches do most in their first week.

Step 1: Download the app

Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android) and search for LeagueApps Play, or use these links: App Store | Google Play

Step 2: Sign in

Sign in with the same email and password you use for LeagueApps as a coach or staff member. You don't need a separate account for the app.

  • Forgot your password? Tap Forgot password? on the sign-in screen, then follow the email we send you.
  • Don't see your team after signing in? Your program administrator needs to add you to the team as staff.

Sign in faster with Face ID or your fingerprint

After you sign in with your email and password, the app asks if you want to use Face ID or Touch ID (iPhone) or your fingerprint or face (Android) next time. Tap Enable. Next time, tap the Face ID or fingerprint button next to Sign in instead of typing your password. Signing out of the app doesn't turn it off.

If you tap Not Now, iPhone asks again the next time you sign in with your password. Android asks only once.

Step 3: Turn on notifications

When the app asks to send you notifications, tap Allow. You'll get a notification when you receive a new message, coach note, or announcement, and when a game or event is changed or canceled.

If you tapped Don't Allow, you can turn notifications on later in your phone's Settings app.

Step 4: Learn the four tabs

Tab What you'll find there
Home (the LeagueApps logo) What needs your attention: your next events, announcements, unread messages, and any payments due
Messages Announcements from your organization, team chats, direct messages, and coach notes
Teams Every team you coach, with its schedule, roster, staff, and standings
Calendar All your upcoming games, practices, and events. This is also where you add new ones

Your profile picture or initials in the top right corner opens My Account, with your teams, organizations, account settings, and payments.

Step 5: Start on Home

Home shows what needs you today. Up next lists your next games and practices, starting with today or the next day that has events. Announcements shows up to three current announcements from your organization, and Messages shows your three most recent unread chats and coach notes. Each section appears only when it has something in it.

Step 6: Run your team

  • Add a game or event: on the Calendar tab, tap +, choose a game or an event, and fill in the details. Check Notify participants before you save to send your team a push notification and email.
  • Edit or cancel an event: open the event and tap Edit in the top right corner.
  • Take attendance: open the event, go to the RSVPs tab, and check in athletes as they arrive.
  • Send an RSVP reminder: in the event's RSVP tab, send a reminder by email and push notification. You can send another one four hours later.
  • Enter a score: if you're a scorekeeper, open the finished game and tap the clipboard with a pencil.
  • Send a coach note: on the Messages tab, tap the new chat button (a chat bubble with a plus on iPhone, a + button on Android), choose Create coach note, pick your team, write your note, and tap Send note. You can also send it as urgent or as an email.
  • Message your team: open Messages and tap your team's chat. To start a new one, tap the new chat button and choose Start chat.

What you can do depends on the permissions your organization sets. If you can't add events, create locations, or enter scores, ask your program administrator.
