Registration Insurance FAQs for Members

Registration Insurance, powered by Vertical Insure, is an optional add-on that you can purchase right in the registration flow. The insurance policy will help protect your registration fees if unforeseen circumstances prevent you or your children from finishing the season, such as illness or injury.

1. What is registration insurance?

Registration insurance is an optional add-on that you can purchase to provide coverage if a registered participant is unable to participate in a season, event, or activity. If the covered individual needs to cancel their registration or their participation due to unforeseen and covered circumstances, registration insurance can reimburse them for the non-refundable registration fees.

⚠️ Registration transaction fees are not covered by registration insurance.

2. What qualifying events are covered for reimbursement by registration insurance?

The most common covered reasons include injuries and illness.

Coverage varies slightly by state. Members will be able to view a state-specific comprehensive description of coverage during the registration flow by clicking on the “insurance notices and disclosures” link under the insurance offer and following the instructions on screen.

3. What is the duration of the policy?

Coverage starts the day after the policy is purchased. Any covered peril that occurs from that point until and through the end of season would be covered. Injuries can occur on or off the field and are not required to be a part of the registered event.

On claims that are accepted, a policyholder will receive a full refund if the covered reason occurred prior to the first sanctioned activity. If coverage takes place during the season, a policyholder will be provided a pro-rated refund for the time missed and unable to participate.

4. How does reimbursement happen if I opt for a payment plan?

You will be able to submit claims for registration insurance purchased through Vertical Insure via their portal (customers.verticalinsure.com) or by emailing support@verticalinsure.com.

After the claim is approved:

  • For all states except New York, the insurance company will reimburse you for your loss (the amount you already paid), and the insurance company will pay the organization the remaining amount not yet paid by you but owed to the organization.
  • In New York state, you would need to continue making payments per the payment plan schedule, and you would be eligible to file a new claim each time you submit payment. Alternatively, you could also choose to pay off your balance and then submit a single claim for reimbursement.

5. How do I purchase registration insurance?

You can purchase registration insurance at the time of registration. If your registration qualifies for registration insurance, you will see an offer to purchase registration insurance before you complete the registration checkout experience.

If you do not see an offer for registration insurance in the registration checkout experience, or if you decide to purchase registration insurance after you complete registration, you can also purchase registration insurance at this website.

6. What will my confirmation email for purchasing registration insurance look like?

Check your inbox for an email from Vertical Insure (VI Coverage). Below is a sample email.

7. If I change my mind, can I cancel my policy and get a refund on the registration insurance?

Yes. If you’re not completely satisfied, you have up to 10 days to cancel within ten (10) days of the initial registration insurance purchase date. Cancellation requests should be submitted to support@verticalinsure.com.

If cancellation is requested within those 10 days, Vertical Insure will process the cancellation of your coverage and refund the insurance purchase price (minus fees), as long as you have not yet filed a claim. 

8. How do I submit a registration insurance claim?

After you purchase coverage, you will be prompted to create a Customer Portal account

at customers.verticalinsure.com. The portal offers an easy view of your coverage details as well as information on how to file a claim or contact the Vertical Insure customer support team. If you have additional questions, you can also contact support@verticalinsure.com .

With proper information and documentation received, covered individuals can expect a resolution and payout typically within 5-7 business days.
