Registration Insurance FAQs for Partners

Registration Insurance, powered by Vertical Insure, is an optional add-on that your customers can purchase right in the registration flow. The insurance policy will help protect their registration fees if unforeseen circumstances prevent them or their children from finishing the season, such as illness or injury.

1. What is registration insurance?

Registration Insurance is an optional add-on that members can purchase in the registration flow.   This insurance will reimburse registrants and participants for their non-refundable registration fees if they are forced to cancel due to unforeseen and covered circumstances. The most common covered reasons include injuries, illness, and traffic accidents.

⚠️ Registration transaction fees are not covered by registration insurance.

2. How does registration insurance help our organization?

Refund requests are a major pain point for many organizations—usually those fees are required to pay for basic operating costs and to generate revenue. However, it’s also difficult to maintain no-refund policies, especially when a participant has to cancel for a legitimate reason.

Registration insurance offers an alternative solution by reimbursing covered individuals while organizations keep the initial registration payment.

On average, the number of refund requests an organization receives decreases by 46% when registration insurance is offered at checkout, protecting your revenue and freeing up administrative time and resources for your organization.

3. How does reimbursement happen when the member is part of a payment plan?

Your members will be able to submit claims for registration insurance via Vertical Insure’s customer portal (customers.verticalinsure.com) or by emailing support@verticalinsure.com.

After the claim is approved:

  • For all states except New York, the insurance company will reimburse the member for their loss (the amount you already paid), and the insurance company will pay you (the organization) the remaining amount owed not yet paid by the member.
  • In New York state, the member would need to continue making payments per the payment plan schedule, and the member would be eligible to file a new claim each time they submit payment. Alternatively, the member could also choose to pay off their balance and then submit a single claim for reimbursement to the insurance company.
⚠️ Registration transaction fees are not covered by registration insurance.

4. Which of my programs will have registration insurance offered in the registration flow?

At this time, most non-tournament program registration flows will offer registration insurance, except for session-based grouped programs. To check if a specific program offers registration insurance in the registration flow, you can check the Program Preferences page or contact support@leagueapps.com. All registrants can purchase registration insurance (regardless of whether it's offered in the registration flow) at https://landing.verticalinsure.com/leagueapps

5. What will the registration insurance offer look like in the registration flow?
