An Orphan member is a member record that isn't connected to a parent's family account. Orphan members are usually created by program staff, for example when a player is added to a roster without a parent account.
You can convert an Orphan member to a Child member by adding them to a parent's family account with the Member role. Once converted, the member appears under the parent's family account and their existing registrations move with them.
| ⚠️ An Orphan member can only be converted to a Child member. There is no way to convert an Orphan member to an Adult member from the management console. If the member is an adult, a new account will need to be created. |
Before you start
-
The family account must already have a parent on it. If the parent doesn't have a family account yet, create one first: Manually Creating a Family/Group Account
- Add the Orphan member with the Member role. Adding them with the Supervisor role will not convert them.
Convert an Orphan member to a Child member
- In the management console, go to Group Accounts.
- Open the parent's family account.
- Click Add User, then select Existing User.
- Search for the Orphan member by name. Orphan members appear as Independent in the search results.
- Select the member, then choose the Member role.
- Save your changes.
The member is now a Child member on the family account. You can confirm this on their Member Details page, where the Orphan notice will no longer appear.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I convert an Orphan member to an Adult member?
No. Adding an Orphan member with the Supervisor role, adding an email address in Edit Member, or using Merge Members will not change them to an Adult member. Contact LeagueApps Support for help.
I added the Orphan member to a family account, but they're still an Orphan. Why?
They were most likely added with the Supervisor role. Remove them from the family account, then add them again as an Existing User with the Member role.
The parent already created a new child record for the same player. What should I do?
First convert the Orphan member to a Child member using the steps above. Then use Merge Members to merge the two Child records. Orphan members can't be merged with other member types, so the conversion has to happen first.
Do the member's registrations move with them?
Yes. When the Orphan member becomes a Child member, their existing registrations stay with them under the family account.
