Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is replacing Google’s Universal Analytics (UA) version. On July 1, 2023 all standard Universal Analytics properties will stop processing data. You'll be able to see your Universal Analytics reports for a period of time after July 1, 2023. However, new data will only flow into Google Analytics 4 (GA4) properties.
With Google Analytics transitioning from UA to GA4 in July 2023, LeagueApps is updating the Google Analytics Tracking ID accordingly within the Digital Insights page on the Management Console. LeagueApps will support the new GA4 Tracking ID by June 30, 2023.
NOTE: If you want to continue to use Google Analytics for your LeagueApps site tracking—you will need to transition your organization's Google Analytics over to the GA4 version before July 1, 2023 and then input your new Google Analytics Tracking ID into the LeagueApps Digital Insights page.
What You Need to Do
⚠️Please Note: The LeagueApps team cannot complete the Google Analytics migration from UA to GA4 for you. This is owned by your organization. Google Analytics provides support documentation and resources linked in the steps below. |
Step 1:
Follow this Google Analytics guide and tutorial videos to migrate your Google Analytics to GA4. This needs to be completed before July 1, 2023.
Google Analytics provides a Help Community as well as a Contact Us page to provide you with help to complete this migration.
Step 2:
Once your migration is complete, find your new GA4 Google Analytics Tracking ID. This will be a number (in the UA version, this ID started with “UA - “). Here is a guide from Google Analytics to help you: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/11583832?hl=en
After July 1, 2023, you'll be able to access your previously processed data in your Universal Analytics property for at least six months. We suggest that you export your historical reports during this time.
Step 3:
LeagueApps has updated the Digital Insights page in the Management Console. You will need to input the new GA4 Google Analytics Tracking ID under 'Google Analytics 4 Tracking ID' on the Digital Insights page in your Management Console before July 1, 2023.
This GA4 Tracking ID can be used instead of the “UA” Tracking ID (see image example of both UA and GA4 below) that you currently have listed in the Digital Insights page.
