Google Analytics 4 (GA4) has replacing Google’s Universal Analytics (UA) version. As of July 1, 2023, all standard Universal Analytics properties stopped processing data. You are able to see your Universal Analytics reports for a period of time after July 1, 2023. However, new data is only flowing into Google Analytics 4 (GA4) properties.
With the Google Analytics transition from UA to GA4 in July 2023, LeagueApps has updated the Google Analytics Tracking ID within the Digital Insights page on the Management Console. You must input your GA4 Tracking ID into the new field called “Google Analytics 4 Tracking ID” on the Digital Insights Page.
NOTE: If you want to continue to use Google Analytics for your LeagueApps site tracking—you need to transition your organization's Google Analytics over to the GA4 version immediately and then input your new Google Analytics Tracking ID into the LeagueApps Digital Insights page.
What You Need to Do
|⚠️Please Note: The LeagueApps team cannot complete the Google Analytics migration from UA to GA4 for you. This is owned by your organization. Google Analytics provides support documentation and resources linked in the steps below.|
Follow this Google Analytics guide and tutorial videos to migrate your Google Analytics to GA4. This needs to be completed immediately since the July 1, 2023 deadline has passed.
Once your migration is complete, find your new GA4 Google Analytics Tracking ID. This will be a number (in the UA version, this ID started with “UA - “). Here is a guide from Google Analytics to help you: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/11583832?hl=en
You are currently able to access your previously processed data in your Universal Analytics property for at least six months. We suggest that you export your historical reports during this time.
LeagueApps has updated the Digital Insights page in the Management Console. You will need to input the new GA4 Google Analytics Tracking ID under 'Google Analytics 4 Tracking ID' on the Digital Insights page in your Management Console.
This GA4 Tracking ID can be used instead of the “UA” Tracking ID (see image example of both UA and GA4 below) that you currently have listed in the Digital Insights page.
Why is Google Analytics moving to GA4?
GA4 is built on a newer technology that allows for more advanced tracking and analysis of user behavior across different platforms, such as mobile apps and websites. Additionally, GA4 has enhanced privacy controls, allowing users to have more control over their data and providing more transparency into how it is being collected and used.
