Member Toolkit: Getting Ready for the Updated Branded App

To help you get your coaches, parents, and players ready for the upcoming updates to your branded app coming in Summer and Fall 2022, here is a communications toolkit which you can copy + paste from. Please be sure to accept your Apple agreements so we can update your app.

NOTE: If you have already had your branded app fully updated, please use this toolkit instead.

We know that you have your own way of communicating with your parents, players, and coaches, so this language is just meant to offer guidance — feel free to tailor it however you’d like! 

In the meantime, to make sure the app is fully populated for your members, be sure to turn on these settings

Upcoming Branded App Updates

The branded app's upcoming enhancements will make it easier for you and your coaches to manage their teams, communications, and events, as well as improve your members' experience.

  1. Improved design and navigation (iOS and Android in July): enhanced user experience so it’s easier to navigate and see the right information at the right time. 
  2. Coach notes (iOS and Android in July): staff members can craft high priority, prominently-displayed alert cards in their team members’ mobile apps, which will be sent as an email as well as a push notification in the mobile app.
  3. Home feed (iOS only in July; Android coming in September): card-based feed so that the most important and urgent information is the most prominent for your members.
  4. Custom locations (iOS only in July; Android coming in September): ability for coaches to create custom locations for an event on the fly.
  5. In-app score input (iOS only in July; Android coming in September): staff members can input scores for completed games with the app.
  6. Updated Android functionality (in July): Android users will now be able to view the Team rosters and standings; features which were previously only available to iOS users.
  7. Organizer announcements (Fall 2022): Organizers can send communications from the management console to the mobile app.

We're excited to share that this summer there will be several enhancements made to the [APP NAME] mobile app, which are geared towards making it easier for our coaches to manage teams, communications, and events:

  • Improved navigation so it’s easier to see the most important information at the right time (iOS and Android)
  • Coach notes (iOS and Android)—where staff can craft high priority messages that will be sent as emails and push notifications, and displayed as alerts (so no one misses them!) - this will replace the Message Wall in the team dashboard
  • Custom locations for events can be created on the fly (coming in September for Android)
  • Input scores after the games directly in the mobile app (coming in September for Android)
  • Android users will now also be able to view the Team rosters and standings—not just iOS users
  • Improved design of existing features, including viewing team schedules, standings, rosters, scores, event details, directions, RSVPs, chat messaging, push notifications, and more. As always, it’s free to use, and ad-free too.

As mentioned above, Messaging in your team dashboard will be moved to our mobile app starting August 2022, and you will be able to use the Communications tab in the updated app to send and reply to Coach Notes, as well as send and receive chat messages to teams and individuals.

How To Answer Members’ Questions About Your Mobile App

Q: How will I sign in to my team's mobile app?
A: To login, you should use the same email and password as the account used when registering to the team. If you forget your password, your program administrator will no longer be able to change it on your behalf. You will be required to change it yourself by clicking the Forgot password? on the login screen. For more details on password resets, click here.

 

Q: I’ve logged into the app in the past and didn't see anything. Why?
A: You must be registered to a team for the program events to appear in the mobile app.

 

Q: Why am I not receiving an email notification when I am sent a chat message in the app?

A: Chat recipients will receive push notifications on their phone when they receive a new chat message. An email notification will not be sent.

 

Q: Why am I unable to chat with certain parents on my team?

A: Chat recipients must have also downloaded the upgraded branded app with chat in order to see the chat messages sent to them.

 

Q: My schedule seems to be showing up in Eastern Time, but I'm not in that timezone - how can I fix this?

A: Please ensure you have updated the mobile app recently in the App Store to fix this setting.

 

Q: Why can't I delete chat messages or conversations?
A: Please ensure you have updated the mobile app recently in the App Store to fix this setting. This capability will be coming for Android soon.

 

For Coaches:

Q: When will my team receive mobile push notifications?
A: Push notifications are sent when they receive a chat message and/or coach note, as well as when you change, cancel, or uncancel an event (i.e. practice, class, etc.). Push notifications are NOT sent when you create or delete an event.

 

Q: Why am I not able to edit my player's information in the app, even though I know I have this permission turned on in the Management Console?
A: Currently, staff cannot edit player form fields on the player details screen within the mobile app, even if they have permission to do so in the Management Console.
