Utilizing the LeagueApps Wall

Last Updated: Mar 14, 2012 03:43PM EDT
LeagueApps has built a social wall, or forum, for admins and site members to utilize on their site. The wall comes in 3 forms - the announcement wire, the program message wall, and the team message wall. You can decide where to place your wall by going to the Settings tab in the LeagueApps Manager console. Click the "Edit Message Wall Settings" button under the Messaging category, then indicate where the wall settings will appear on the site. You can further customize the settings for each wall by enabling the Facebook Share option on the program and team message walls. There is also the option to allow members to post messages on the program message wall. See below:

Announcement Wire

The Announcement Wire is the site's universal message-board, or bulletin board. Users can visit this wall to check for updates and obtain any general information about the site or organization. As admin, you are the only person able to post to the announcement wire. If you are logged in to the public site, you can delete any wall post by clicking the little red X on the post.
In your settings, you can decide where the announcement wire will appear- the site homepage, each member's dashboard, or both.

NOTICE: For any league partners using the integrated LeagueApps approach- the Announcement Wire will appear on your LeagueApps-hosted homepage, not your external site homepage. Therefore, it is a good idea to include the Announcement Wire on your member dashboard to make sure your members see your posts.

Post to the homepage wall by clicking the "Post an Announcement" button on the right of your site dashboard (see below). Optionally, you can click "Messaging > Make an Announcement" in your console.

Before you post to the wall, make sure your Message Wall Settings are set up correctly.

Recipients: decide what audience you want to reach.
  • Select "Everyone" if you are making a general comment intended for all site members.
  • Select a program if you want to target a specific program on your site. Any comment will post solely to the program wall you choose.
Post Type:
Select "Announcement" to post a general comment to the homepage. OR, post a comment specifically about program details, schedules, or game results. Indicating a 'post type' will simply place a label on the comment.

Privacy:
Make your post visible to site visitors who are not logged in. If this option is unchecked, only logged-in members can see your posts.

Share This Post On Facebook:
If you choose to make your post publicly visible, you can share it on Facebook. This will automatically post a status update on your Facebook page.

Program Message Wall

Each program has a wall that appears on the program profile page. This wall can serve as a forum for players across teams to interact and converse. All players in a program can view comments on the program wall, as long as they are logged-in to their accounts. They can also post their own comments as long as the admin has enabled this option on the program message wall. Non-admin players can delete their own posts by clicking the delete red X for those posts.

Additionally, admins can post to a program wall by indicating the "Recipients" of the message (as stated above).

Post Type
Players have the option to post a general comment, or post a comment specifically about the schedule or standings. Indicating a 'post type' will simply place a label on the comment.

Facebook Share
Players can toggle the "Facebook Share" button to post a comment on their Facebook Wall (provided that the admin enables the Facebook share option). Any such comment will appear on their Facebook profile page.

Team Message Wall

Each team has a wall that appears on the team profile page. The team wall can be used for players to interact, as well as for team captains to communicate to the entire team. All members of a team can view and post comments on the program wall, as long as they are logged-in to their accounts. Additionally, an admin user who is logged-in to the public site can post to any team wall, despite not being a team member.

Facebook Share
Teammates can toggle the "Facebook Share" button to post a comment on their Facebook Wall (provided that the admin enables the Facebook share option). Any such comment will appear on their Facebook profile page.

Privacy:
Teammates can toggle the "Public" button to make their comment visible to any site visitor. Leaving this option OFF will strictly allow logged-in members of the team to view the post.

Email Notifications:
Players can choose to have email notifications sent when a post is made to the team wall. They can change their settings by clicking "Account Settings" in their member dashboard. (Email notifications are ON by default).
