Naked Domain Forward/Redirect

Last Updated: May 09, 2016 03:49PM EDT

*If you are using 1&1 please refer to this article*

If your organization wants the domain you share in emails and marketing materials to be “naked”, or without the subdomain (e.g., just “sportsleague.com”), then complete these steps. Users going to “sportsleague.com” will redirected to “www.sportsleague.com”. NOTE: If you are using your naked domain for a totally separate site from your LeagueApps site (e.g., if you have a separate Wordpress or Weebly site running on your naked domain), then you do NOT need to perform this step.

*Before beginning this process, make sure you set up your CNAME.

Watch our video detailing the process Step-by-Step:

Step 1:
Log in to your account and select the "Manage" for Domains.

Step 2:
Find the domain you are using for LeagueApps, select the downward triangle and choose "Forward Domain".

*Make sure you are in the "list view" on the domain page.

Step 3:
On the “Forwarding and Masking” popup, select “Add Forwarding”.

Step 4:
The default settings should be correct. Be sure that the REDIRECT TYPE is set to 301 (Permanent). It should look like this:

Step 5:
The "FORWARD TO" box must be your full URL, including the www. (or subdomain). Example: www.YOURSITE.com

Step 6:
BE SURE TO CLEAR CACHE AND HISTORY ON YOUR BROWSER BEFORE REVISTING YOUR SITE

Step 7:
Finally you must log your new url on League Apps' Site.  Click here to learn how!
